First day of summer 2012

This is my OOTD for the first day of summer.  Not very imaginative.  But I was dressing for comfort - think scorching hot outdoors to freezing air-conditioned office space.  This outfit worked pretty well for both climates.  I adore the print on this blouse.  What did you do to celebrate the first day of summer?

What a wonderful day!  I decided that a dress was in order rather than my usual uniform of pants, top and cardigan.  I have been crushing on the Elinor dress for a while but I have not had an opportunity to wear it until today.  The cardigan is also from J.Crew but from a few seasons ago.

This was another fun day having brunch and window shopping.  I like this outfit - light and airy.  Great for a very warm day.  I think that the colors may be a little over-powering.  I am slowing learning my style and my comfort levels.  I loves these colors, but maybe not in a color block fashion.

I spent the day attending an outdoor birthday party.  We had a great time watching the kids play and catching up on life.  The best part was watching a 2-year old eat multiple cupcakes simultaneously.  The the cute 2-year old would then attach herself to your leg with multi-colored, icing stained fingers.  Dark colored shorts was considered a must for me and this party!  Lol.  Luckily, I did not get tagged by sticky fingers, although my fingers were pretty sticky after having a cupcake.  ;-)

I am revamping my wardrobe and adding some color diversity to my closet.  My goal is to stay true to colors that complement my coloring and are appealing to me.   I was helping my friend, J, clean out her closet a few days ago.  We discovered some great color combinations while staying true to her style.  J is trying to infuse more color into her wardrobe.  Do you ever play with color?  Have you fallen in love with items in your closet that you had forgotten?
